PORTLAND, Maine - Kathy Kroll, Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist, at New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland (NERHP), was presented the Caregiver of the Year Award for 2006 at an employee recognition ceremony held May 23, 2007.

"Kathy contributes in many ways to the quality of life of our patients through her involvement as a Therapeutic Recreational Therapist," stated Amy Morse, CEO. "She has been instrumental in the Veterans No Boundaries initiative, is actively involved in Maine Handicapped Skiing and is an integral part of the inpatient and outpatient programs."

Kroll, of Portland, co-facilities several support groups at NERHP including the Pulmonary Rehab Program, Pulmonary Support Group, Brain Injury Support Group, Caregiver Support Group and Aphasia Support Group. She is also the NERHP Volunteer Program leader.
