Debora Berg, RN, CRRN with Rehabilitation Nurse
of the Year Award

Portland, Maine (May, 2006) - Debora Berg, RN, CRRN, was awarded the "Sandra Marriner Rehabilitation Nurse of the Year Award for 2006 by New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland (NERHP). Pictured above: (L) Sandra Marriner, RN, CRRN and (R) Deb Berg, RN, CRRN.
This award was developed to honor the wonderful work that Sandra Marriner, RN, CRRN, did with Spinal Cord Injury patients at NERHP and given to her upon her retirement. The award continues to be given annually to a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse who exemplifies the attributes Sandra exhibited by providing professional, supportive, innovative, holistic care to patients and who is enthusiastic about the specialty practice of Rehabilitation Nursing. The award recipient is nominated by peers, co-workers and physicians. A ceremony was held during National Nurse's Week to honor Ms. Berg.
Deb Berg, BSN, became a CRRN in 1996 and has been involved in Program Development for the Stroke, Cardiopulmonary, Multiple Sclerosis and Brain Injury Programs. "She fosters and supports staff education and provides nursing leadership to her staff on a daily basis." says Elizabeth Glidden, RN, Director of Nursing. "She is an excellent teacher to staff, patients and families. Deb is a life long learner, enjoys challenges and is a fine example of what a Rehab Nurse can do."
