New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland Presents
Shelley Coull with the Buzz Fitzgerald Award

Portland, Maine (May, 2006) - Shelley Coull, Physical Therapist at New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland (NERHP), was awarded the prestigious Buzz Fitzgerald Award for 2005. The award is presented annually to a NERHP staff member in recognition of their outstanding leadership, dedication, integrity and enthusiasm. A ceremony was held earlier this year at NERHP's Brighton Room to honor Ms. Coull.
Friends and family members created the award in memory of Buzz Fitzgerald, former President of Bath Iron Works. Mr. Fitzgerald was a patient at NERHP, and touched the lives of many of their employees during this time. The award provides NERHP the opportunity to honor Mr. Fitzgerald's memory by recognizing one of their own outstanding employees.
"Shelley's dedication and belief in the power of change has brought relief, comfort and appreciation from patients and staff," says Amy Morse, CEO, NERHP. "She is an example of one person who made a difference for so many. Failure was never an option; she is an inspiration to many."
Ms. Coull is a fierce advocate for her patients and their families, often working tirelessly to procure the appropriate services and equipment needed for rehabilitation.
